Text Layers Changes

This page describes only what changes in GaugeMaster Pro 2. Check the current Text Arc Layer and Text Detail Layer pages for the full details on these layer types.

Vertical alignment

Both text layer types have a new vertical alignment (V Align) choice for their text:

• Full is the classic middle alignment, centering the text on the full font height.
• Digits centers the text on the font’s cap height, the optical center of lining numerals, so dial numbers sit visually centered on their radius.

The default depends on the layer type: new Text Arc layers use Digits (they are usually numeric scales), while new Text Detail layers use Full (they are usually unit labels or free text with maybe some numerals). Files saved before GaugeMaster Pro 2 load with Full to preserve their designs.

Use Digits for numeral scales

If your scale values are numbers, which is the case on most gauges, make sure Digits is set to get them visually centered on their radius.

Radial alignment

On the Text Arc layer, the control that positions text along the radius is now labeled R Align (previously Align), with R Align Offset for the fine adjustment. The R stands for radial (inner-to-outer), to tell it apart from the new vertical V Align above. Its behavior is unchanged.
